You're environmentally conscious, you have a charging system where your sailing boat is kept, you're a day sailor who loves to go cruising for the day with friends and family, but you want great performance in a small package.
The new Italian designed electric Vismara v34ds could be just the thing. Its makers say it was designed for both cruising and racing with the family and sails ideally in winds of up to 18 knots.
Just released in January, this Vismara, just under 33 ft (9.9m) the designers have made every attempt to achieve great performance in a boat that is also easy handling, safe and very reliable.
Constructed by a sandwich corecell soul with structural materials in advanced composites the builders have used unidirectional and biaxial carbon fiber impregnated and vacuumed in epoxy resin.
The Vismara v34ds has a stepped deck carbon mast with two spreaders at 30° without a backstay. The deck plan was designed for a double use: regatta and cruising with a self tacking staysail - or 110% for regatta.
There are two winches, size 40, electric, heading to the bow for staysail & genoa halyards.
Another two winches, size 46, rewind radial are located next to the helmsman for the main sheet, main halyard / code 0 & furlers- all ducted.
In another demonstration of flexibility of use, there is the possibility of using the staysail sheets instead of the bow winches on the winches near the helmsman for easy cruising.
There is a carbon boom with lazy jack in a continuous reefing system. There's also a hydraulic vang with an electric command near the helmsman.
The electric command panel on the steering consul has six buttons which regulate the winches, vang & main traveler on both steering positions.
The boat has a fin keel-blade in steel & bulb terminal in antimony lead at around the 1000 kg. The propulsion, naturally, is by electric Mastervolt at 5.5hp with three folding blades. The boat's makers claim it will travel for 30nm at 5 knots.
The bow features a king size bad, two sofa-beds each side to stern. There's an electrified toilet, a 40litre refrigerator. Carbon structures and structural furniture are not varnished to give them a 'carbon look'.
