Laser Europa Cup - Norway dominated by flicky winds
Thu, 13 Jun 2013

Day one of the Laser Europa Cup, Norway began with light to moderate southerly winds, going from eight knots in the morning to sixteen knots for race three in the afternoon. Tricky conditions prevailed with lots of wind shifts on day three of the event. Racing started at 11:00 with 6-7 knots from the north but with rather large shifts both to the west and east. Also the windspeed varied from 8-9 knots down to 3-4 knots so that only two races could get off for all fleets. A total of 7 races were sailed with one discard. In the Standard rig, first place went to local sailor, Mathias Mollat, (NOR) who finished on 14 points winning three races. He was followed by Hermann Tomasgaard, (NOR) in second on 20 points having won two races, and third place went to Holger Tidemand, (SWE). Norweigian Sail First ISAF Youth Worlds Laser Radial Girls representative Line Flem Høst ramped up her preparations for the event by winning the Laser Radial title in Norway. Close behind in second place was Marcus Magnusson, (SWE), and in third place was Ina Berentsen Kullmann, (NOR). Local Sailor, Mads Severin Hassum-Olsen, (NOR) took the winning spot in the Laser 4.7 with 17 points. Second place went to Katarina Cezilie Broch, (NOR) followed by Caroline Rosmo, (NOR) who finished third on 29 points. Click here for full results ISAF website
