The eighth annual SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week will offer first class racing on the crystal blue waters of Cleveland Bay from Thursday 27August to Tuesday 1 September 2015, following on from the Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks and is the finale of the Queensland Season of Sailing.

Entries from across Australia for the SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week are steadily flowing in as the close of entries date looms large on the horizon. There are seven divisions on offer for this year’s regatta being held from August 27 to September 1. The Multihulls are the newest to see a surge in entries with Ian Johnson’s Lightwave Salacia kick-starting the Multihull Cruising Division.

The SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week, which is being held August 27 to September 1, continues to put Magnetic Island and surrounding region on the map as the perfect Spring-time holiday and sailing destination. The regatta showcases the beauty of Magnetic Island and the local region, attracting sailors from around Australia to the annual event which is now in its ninth year.

Fantasia’s Andrew Stransky can’t get enough of the challenge of beating the monohulls nor can he get enough of all the fun the event organisers put on each year at the SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week. Stransky and his family team are returning for the third time. Joining him in the racing multihulls are Mike Hodges’s 15m Renaissance and Justin Grunwald’s 50-foot Two Up Together.

Peter Sorensen will be back competing in the SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week after a five year hiatus and his mission is to beat IRC rival Bob Steel. He will be campaigning his Sydney 36, The Philosophers Club, at Airlie Beach ahead of the Australian IRC Championships, which he has twice won. He will then bring the boat further north where he had a lot of fun in 2010 helming the Sydney 38 Zen.
